Turquoise and Pops of Pink

Hello fashionistas!
I wanted to share a quick outfit of the day with you all. I wore this out to lunch downtown with my best friend, Melissa. Photo props to Mel, thanks girly! It's really great having friends/family who are more than willing to photograph my outfits for the blog. I used to feel weird asking people to do it, but now it's just a regular occurrence in my life!

Mel and I!

Dress: Ross Belt: Forever 21 Shoes: Aerosoles Bag: Tommy Hilfiger (Ross) Sunnies: JCP Necklace: Tiffany & Co.

I went for a dress because it is hotter than the blazes down here! The humidity just makes the air feel so thick and heavy! I love the bright turquoise-y/green color of this dress and I was in a color-blocking mood, so I paired it with my skinny, neon pink belt. Not a crazy color-blocking combo, just a teensy bit of contrast! My bag just so happened to match my color-blocking idea, I swear it wasn't even intentional! I really love the girly ruffles on this dress, so feminine.

I literally didn't do anything to my hair, it looked this way when I woke up. Brushed it with a round brush for some more volume and spritzed with hairspray. Easy peasy.
The makeup was (again) my simple summertime routine. Just concealer, powder, blush, bronzer, mascara, and lipstick/gloss. I think that the "glow" you all were referring to in the last outfit post was actually my application of Nars' Orgasm blush and illuminator, not the boyfriend! You guys are so silly and honestly make me laugh aloud with your comments!

This is again another pre-scheduled post!
Thanks for reading.

Loads of love!

Guest Post from Lonnaliz: How To Style Your Basic Dress

Hello lovelies my name is Alonna and today I'm guest blogging for Savannah while she's on vacation. I decided to do a post about changing up your basic dress.
Sometimes I feel like solid colored dresses are more useful than the printed ones we are all usually drawn to. Plain/basic dresses are like a blank canvas. You're free to accessorize how you want without fear of over doing it or clashing patterns.
I'm going to give you some tips on how to make those solid, basic dresses the center of your wardrobe and to increase the amount of stylish ensembles that you can make with them.
Some of these tips might be no brainers, but oh well!

-Pair it with an exciting bag.
-Wear it with a statement necklace.
-Add a schnazzy scarf.
-Spiffy it up with a tailored blazer.
-Wear a colorful scarf as a belt.
-Try a pair of shoes you wouldn't normally wear with the dress. (Converse, sandals instead of heels, heels -instead of sandals, whatever)!
-Put on a pair of contrasting colored shoes.
-Trade dresses with a friend, hehe.
-Wear it with a summer-y vest
-This may resemble an old woman too much if paired with the wrong dress, but add a brooch or pin.
-My personal favorite, wear it over a button down, flannel, long sleeve shirt, or chambray button down.
-Add a cozy cardigan for a relaxed look.
-Toss an old button down (chambray, plaid, an old work shirt of your dad's/boyfriend's/brother/s) over it for a different look. Don't forget to belt it to keep your shape!
-Printed belts are a great way to jazz up a basic dress and highlight your killer curves!

Hope this helped you all get the most wear out of your dresses!
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Too Faced Romantic Eye Look

Hello fashionistas!
It's time for another makeup post. I FINALLY got around to photographing a look with my Too Faced Romantic Eye palette, click on the highlighted part to see my review of this palette.
I honestly love this palette and I'm very glad that I purchased it.
For the look I'm sharing today I did a sultry purple eye. I love playing with purples and this palette comes with a great range of purples!

Excuse the hair, I did nothing but blow dry it with my head upside down for some more volume!

Here's what I used on my face.

Benefit Boi-ing concealer
Physician's Formula Translucent Powder
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer (bronzer only to contour)
Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer Powder on my cheeks
Maybelline Dream Mousse blush in Cloud Wine

For my eyes:

Urban Decay Primer Potion all over lid and on the lower rim of my eye
Too Faced Cut the Cake all over lid
Too Faced First Dance in the crease/outer corner, blended
Too Faced I Do in the mid-tone area, blended
Too Faced Soulmates as my highlight
Urban Decay Infamous on my lower lashline
Too Faced First Dance layered on top of Infamous
Too Faced Lashgasm on my lashes
NYC Liquid Liner on my upper lashline
Urban Decay Naked to fill in my brows

For my lips I swept a quick coat of Co. Bigelow Pink Mint on and called it a day!

I would definitely wear this out on a date or for a special occasion, but being the makeup-ista I am I just did it for the blog! I love doing makeup posts because it lets me tap into my creativity.

This is a pre-scheduled post, so while you're reading this I'm probably out swimming in a beautiful, spring fed lake or soaking up some sun. Hope you're all doing great! I can't wait to read all of the posts I'm missing!

Loads of love!

Leaving, Leaving, Leaving!

Hello fashionistas!
Just a quick post to let you guys know that I'm leaving for vacation in just a few hours!
Bags are packed and everything is ready to go. I won't be able to regularly access the interwebs for about 2 weeks, so I will miss all of you lovelies! However, I did pre-schedule some posts and I had a few guest bloggers work up some posts. Again, thank you guys so much!

I'm off to go to bed and get a pinch of shut eye before I have to get up and go. Getting up at 5:30 in the morning and it is currently 12:38.. Oh boy.

Also, before I leave, just wanted to say that I'm currently obsessed with this song by Coeur de Pirate "Wicked Games."
The language is not work appropriate, lots of swearing, but her voice is beautiful!

Loads of love!

Living in Lilac.

Hello fashionistas!
I'm trying to be better about posting outfit of the days during summer, so I have another one for you all.
It is a lot easier to do outfit of the days during the school year because I always have to put together cute outfits. When it comes to summer I don't always have to get dolled up (some days I stay in a bathing suit/cover up or just shorts and tank tops).

Blazer: Thrifted Shorts: Kohl's Tank-top: New York and Company Shoes: Nine West Sunnies: JCP Bracelet: local store Necklace: Tiffany & Co.

I went thrifting for the first time and I had a blast. I bought this blazer and a dress for a grand total of $6. Seriously, that's insane. My friend Alonna is a thrifting queen and always finds super interesting pieces. She found a polka dot blazer that I am SO in love with. She's got a great sense of style and she happens to have her own style blog, so I want you guys to check it out! Here's her link .

I wore this outfit to visit some family and then see the boyfriend. I adore these shorts because they're slightly dressier than just normal jean shorts. I'm in love with the lilac pastel color and the shoulder pads makes me like it even more. I think this blazer is very on key with the summer 2012 trends of pastels.
I like how the summer '12 trends are on both ends of the spectrum, pastels to neons. I really need to look for some neon pieces. Anyways,I kept my accessories simple with all silver and paired it with my flashy silver loafers. Had to throw on some big sunnies to protect my eyes from the blinding sun while I drove. My mom actually just picked these up for me the other day; I love them and I like how she can judge what will look good on me without even having me try them on!

For my makeup I did the exact same eye look as I did in this post. For my lips I used Korres Pomegranate lip butter with a teensy bit of Revlon Colorburst Fuschia lipstick on top. It was a pretty simple look.

Have a fabulous Father's day! I made my dad breakfast in bed. I love you Dad, thanks for always helping me out whether it's on the blog or with my driving!

Life Update and Guest Blogging Opportunities.

Hello fashionistas!
I've had a lot going on in my life lately and I just thought I'd fill you guys in on everything.
Summer has been going on for a week and a half and I spent all of this week volunteering at a summer art camp for kids. It was a blast and I managed to log a lot of volunteer hours too!
Basically everyday after camp I spent the day with my boyfriend just having fun and enjoying summer. We're trying to spend as much time together before a.) I leave to go on vacation for 3 weeks and b.) he leaves to go back to college in August.
Here's a picture of us from this week.

Today my best friend, Lily, gets back from her week long vacation and I have missed her SO SO SO much!
She's actually coming on vacation with us for a week (and leaves this upcoming Sunday). We're leaving on Friday to drive up and I actually get to help drive this year, exciting. We've gone on vacation together 2 years ago, we're basically sisters.

This picture is from a few months ago, but I still love it!

I've been dealing for the past few months with the fact that she's moving 4 states away right after our vacation. I've honestly been trying to pretend that it isn't happening because I cry every time I think about it. This past week it has really hit me that she's leaving. I broke down in tears just the other day. We've been best friends for going on 8 years. She's my person, can read my mind, and always understands what I'm trying to say. We're over at each others' houses 3-4 times a week, not to mention the number of sleepovers we've had over the years. We have clothes at each others' houses so that we never have to pack a proper overnight bag! We're planning on flying/riding a train to each other every 2 months. It honestly breaks my heart because I know that I'll never find another best friend like her. I love my best friend and I'm not ever going to forget about her! Thank God for Skype/texting/phones/email. It's going to be tough, but I know our friendship is strong enough to make it through this. I'm definitely going to make the most out of this trip with her. Lily, thank you for being such an incredible friend to me over the past 8 years. I hope that we have a friendship that lasts a lifetime.

On another note, due to the fact that I'm vacationing for 3 weeks I probably will not be able to post that frequently on here. For 2 weeks of my vacation I won't be able to access the internet unless I go to one of the cafes in town. I'm going to try to schedule some posts to go up while I'm gone, but I'm just warning you guys that it might not be the regular every other day posting.
If anyone would like to guest blog, I would love that. I'd be looking for makeup posts/tutorials, fashion posts, or posts that discuss the trends of summer. If you're interested, please shoot me an email at glamorousgirl2014@gmail.com with the idea of what you would like to post about.

Anyways, thanks for reading this post and letting me fill you in on my life outside of the makeup and fashion.

I love you guys!

Sweet Summertime Shopping

Hello fashionistas!
I recently did a bit of shopping and wanted to share my finds with you all.
I went to JCP, Victoria Secret, and Forever 21. Plus I randomly bought a pair of pink pants while I was out shopping at Costco.

This is from JCP and I fell in love with it because it's so loose and sparkly. It looks perfect with a pair of shorts and gladiators. My summer look.

Another JCP find. I had to buy this because a.) it was only $5 and b.) loose knits are perfect for where my family goes to during summer vacation. I adore the gold running through the blue.

I bought this over-sized, knit sweater from Forever 21. I am in love with the cobalt blue (an on trend color for summer '12) and it brings out my eyes/deepens my tan. I actually wore this over to my boyfriends house last night and he was like "why are you wearing a sweater in summer?" I said "it's a loose knit and I paired it with shorts, totally summer appropriate!"

Another cobalt blue find that is also from Forever 21. I love the beading and they are super comfortable.

I had to have this bracelet as soon as I found it at Forever 21. I love statement bracelets and this was just right up my alley.

More Forever 21 finds. A peachy coral necklace that reminded me of one I had pinned on Pinterest to DIY, but I fell in love and decided to just buy instead of DIY. These dangling earrings are also on trend with the summer color forecast, mint all the way!

I obviously couldn't leave Forever 21 without picking up a few more cheap, skinny headbands. Plus I love the blue color.

These were my random pink pants find at Costco. The brand is Gloria Vanderbilt, which I love. I think these will be really good for experimenting with color-blocking. For a more toned down look I definitely want to pair it with the first top from JCP and some black wedges.

The final purchase (which was actually purchased first) was from Victoria Secrets. I'm a PINK sweatpants addict, I live in them when I'm at home. I'm actually in them right now. PINK sweatpants love.

I'm off to go hang with the boyfriend, have a fantastic day!
Loads of love!

Miss Matte Eyes and Glowing Face

Hello fashionistas!
It's time for another makeup post. This time I drew some date-night inspiration from a pin that I pinned to my Beauty & Glam board on Pinterest. I thought Ashely Olsen looked stunning, as usual. Anyways, I drew some inspiration from this picture for a look.

 via

Key points of this look:

Matte eyes
Lots of mascara
Glowing/dewy face
Pale pink lips
Bold brows

I wanted to keep my eyes matte and make my lashes appear to be longer with black eyeliner. I made my brows a bit fuller with Urban Decay Naked shadow. I made my face have Ashely's dewy glow.

Here I am attempting to be Ashley and not smile with my teeth. I guess I'm just a teeth shower when I smile, le sigh.

Normal smile!

Eye makeup close ups.
I think I probably went a little bit heavier on my eye makeup than Ashley did (well, let's be real, her makeup artist)! I also didn't do a milky pink lip- my lips are so pigmented that it's really a pain the booty to make them pale. I'm just saying, this isn't an exact replica, just my own take off of the picture!

For my face I used:

Benefit Boi-ing concelaer
Physcian's Formula translucent face powder
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing powder (just the bronzer)
Stila Camilla cream cheek blush
Sephora Hot Hues All Over in Bronzed Glow
Nars Orgasm Illuminator on my cheek bones for a dewy glow

On my eyes I used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked all over
Urban Decay Buck in my crease
Urban Decay Zero to line my eyes/tightline
NYC Liquid Eyeliner on top of Whiskey
Too Faced Bouquet Toss as my highlight
Urban Decay Naked in my brows
Too Faced Lashgasm mascara- this mascara is my new love, will review soon!

On my lips I used:

Revlon Pink Pout
Palladio Couture Apricot lipgloss on top

I just got back home from volunteering at this summer art camp. I'm having a blast, the kids are such a trip! I'm doing it until the end of this week and I think I'm going to sign up for another week towards the end of July. I'm off to go clean up my room and bathroom, so exciting... Tonight the boyfriend and I are going out to play pool again. We are both bad at it, but have so much fun!

Hope you liked this look!

Simple Saturday Blues

Hello fashionistas!
Yesterday my mom, sister, and I went out and ran a bunch of errands/went out to dinner. We went to the Cheesecake Factory and I discovered my new cheesecake love, Chocolate Coconut Macaroon Cheesecake, it is to die for! I normally get their 30th Anniversary (aka super chocolate-y), but I got something different and loved it. Anyways, before we left I had my sister snap a few pictures of my simple Saturday style.

Sweater: Docker's Jeans and tank-top: Kohl's Shoes: Nine West Bracelets: assorted Necklace: Tiffany and Co. Headband: unknown

The weather has been really dreary and rainy, so I wanted to wear something comfortable in case it started to pour- which it did. It was honestly some of the worst rain we've had in quite sometime! These shoes were good because they kept my feet dry and warm. I thought the silver worked well with the baby blue. I love blues because they bring out the blue in my eyes. I kept my accessories simple with blues and silvers. I threw in a tiny bit of print with my floral, skinny headband.

For my makeup I used MAC Melon pigment all over, Stila Kitten's eyeshadow on top, Urban Decay Snakebite and Naked in the crease, with Urban Decay Skimp as my highlight. ELF cream liner in coffee finished off with Too Faced Lashgasm mascara. Very simple, wish I'd gotten a better picture for you all, sorry!

I'm off to go do some laundry and get a cup of coffee. Tonight the boyfriend and I are going to go play pool, which means I have to come up with a pool playing outfit. I imagine that shouldn't be too difficult!

Loads of love!

2 Year Blog Anniversary!

Hello fashionistas!
Today marks my two year blogging anniversary and I feel like the time has just flown by
I started this blog back in the summer before freshmen year and now it's the summer before junior year. I chose the numbers 2014 because that year seemed so far away, it's the year I'll graduate high school, and now I'm realizing that it isn't that far away at all.

So cute, I seriously fell in love with this picture and thought it would be perfect for this post!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the amazing people and companies I've come into contact with from this blog. You all are so sweet and have touched my life in a very special way and I hope that I've had some sort of an impact on you all. You all are what makes me keep blogging.

I feel like I've grown up with this blog and that my style has definitely become all my own. I honestly feel like I've become more in tune with what I like and dislike because of blogging. It's taught me that sometimes you have to follow your own heart and not listen to everyone else's opinions. Sometimes you aren't going to love the new 'it' trend and that's a-okay. We're all individuals and we aren't all always going to mesh. Putting myself out here to be judged by others hasn't always been easy. I've had my share of rude comments, but it has taught me that everyone has their own opinions and that you can't let the harsh things people say get you down. Haters gonna hate and the fact of the matter is that you have to ignore it.

If anyone reading this has ever considered blogging, but has been too scared to start one, my advice would be that you should go for it. You have to put yourself out there and network.
It took me awhile before I had any readers, but I still loved doing it- of course it was even better when I had actual readers! The very first comment/follower you get will forever be something you remember, no matter how large your blog grows to be. Don't be afraid, just put yourself out there.

If you guys have suggestions of posts you would like to see more of then please put it in the comment section below! You can also tweet me @glamgirl2014 or email me at glamorousgirl2014@gmail.com .

Anyways, thanks so much for watching my blog grow, I love you all!
I hope for many more blog-averseries.

Too Faced Poolside Primping Review

Hello fashionistas!
Last week I placed an order at Apothica and it came in the mail the other day, so I wanted to share what I bought with you all. I've recently become a fan of Too Faced Cosmetics and decided to order their Poolside Primping set. Living in Florida equals a lot of time spent in the water during summer and I would like to spend my time at the beach/pool looking good, so I decided why not buy a set made for that!

It's a waterproof bag, which I love.

This set comes with the Glamour Gloss Lip Gloss in Peek-a-Boo, Lashgasm Mascara, Pool Side Primping Makeup bag, Perfect Lips Lip Liner in Perfect Nude, Sun Bunny Bronzer, Primed and Poreless Bronze Tint Face Primer. All of these products but the Primed and Poreless Bronze Tint Face Primer are full sized.

Left to right:

Glamour Gloss, Perfect Lips lip liner, Sun Bunny (light side) of the bronzer, Sun Bunny (dark side) of the bronzer, Sun Bunny (light and dark) mixed together.

The bronzer provides such a warm, luminous glow to your face, and makes you look like you basked in the sun for hours. I think the lipgloss and liner give a 'my lips but better' look and have a bit of golden sheen that highlights the warmth from the bronzer.  The gloss is also a bit of a plumping gloss, I can feel my lips tingle just a bit when I put it on. I have yet to use to the mascara or the primer. If I find either of those super amazing, then I will review them!

If you want to purchase this product, here's the link. It was only $42 and I think that is a great deal because you get 4 full-sized products, a makeup bag, and a deluxe sample sized primer. Apothica also tossed in 2 free samples. If you sign up for Apothica's newsletter then they will send you a code for 10% off your purchase. Overall, I am really happy with my purchase!

What kind of summertime products do you all use when you know you're going to be outside/in the water?

Loads of love!

Tres Jolie Sun Hat by Dorfman Pacific Review and Discount

Hello fashionistas!
Sorry for the disappearance, I have been extremely busy lately! I finished my last 2 finals for school today, so I'm d-o-n-e with sophomore year! I would have posted over the weekend, but I had almost no free time. Friday was my Dad's birthday, Saturday I went to a party/sleepover with a few close friends, and Sunday I spent the day with my boyfriend and studying for finals.

Anyways, I wanted to share a product that I am in love with for summer! For full disclosure purposes, yes, I was sent this product, but all of what I have to say is 100% my own opinion. It's by Dorfman Pacific and it's in the style of  Tres Jolie, but is also known as the Ribbon Crusher. The French name translates to very beautiful, which I found to be true!

I love the cute little ribbon detail in the back and how the entire hat looks like ribbon wrapped around in the shape of a hat.

I love this hat because it is so chic and and vibrant. It adds the perfect pop of color to my black bathing suit and you all know how much I love pops of colors. It's easy to toss in your beach bag and tote around, plus you don't have to fear that it won't bounce right back to its original shape. It's easy to mold to the way you want to wear it and if you get it wet it dries extremely quickly.

If pink isn't your thing, this hat comes in a variety of colors. Shown below are black, lime, fuschia, and natural. They're also available in turquoise, tan, and white.

The sweet people over at Dorfman Pacific have a way for you all to save 20% on this hat, taking the price down from 30 to 24. You can check it out here and use the code SunHatSave20! It's good until June 30th.
I hope you check these hats out and welcome the floppy hat trend of the summer. Another bonus is that they  protect your delicate skin!

I'm off to go watch the Bachelorette with my mom even though I'm seriously exhausted from my beach day.
