Clothed in Black

Hello fashionistas!
I hope you all have been doing well. I have managed to get sick again. I'm blaming my boyfriend because while he was home on Thanksgiving break he came down with a cold and I'm pretty sure it originated from him. Oh well, it was worth getting to be with him.
I wanted to share an outfit with you all that I wore this week. I was going for a casual cute look.

Top: New York and Company Tank-top: Aeropostale Jeans: Kohl's Shoes: Belk  Bag: Goldfinch (local store) Necklace: Dali's on Mackinac Island, Michigan

This shirt was my mom's and then it became mine. It is the softest material and I love the way it has the satin-esque (not sure if it is actual satin, it probably is not) tie and trim around the sleeves. It definitely bumps it up from being just a plain long sleeve black shirt. The weather was not very cool, so I paired it with rolled up jeans and my pointed toe kitten heels. I paired the pendant that I picked up on Mackinac Island with this outfit. It is heated turquoise that turns purple, amethyst, and a pearl. I went for another pop of color with my quilted hot pink purse. I love this bag- it is the epitome of girly!

I kept my hair straight and simple. I did not realize how long it has gotten until these pictures! I think I might grow it out again. I feel like I say that and then as soon as I get it to a long length I chop it back off again.
I did the usual bronze eyes and a pink lip for my makeup. I need to do another makeup post, I have not done one in forever!

Tomorrow I have a physics test and a few other things going on. My favorite class, pottery, has been going well. I'm working on two projects right now and I will hopefully be done with them by Tuesday.

Loads of love!

IKEA Purchases

Hello fashionistas!
Today I have a little interior post! My mom, sister, and I went to IKEA on Wednesday to do a little shopping. My mom just redid the office and wanted to buy a futon and a few other things for the room. I bought a couple of things while we were there because who doesn't love IKEA?..

I picked up a new duvet cover because the one I had had was getting kind of gross. When I found this polka dot one I knew it was meant to be! Polka dots + me = a match made in heaven! My favorite thing about this is that it's reversible. It's really comfy, if you're in the market for a new duvet then I highly suggest you check out IKEA.

I'm not sure if you guys know this about me, but I am a candle addict. My family refers to me as a 'pyro'. I constantly have candles lit. Relaxing in my room with 3 or 4 burning with a good book is my favorite way to unwind. I had finished my 2 IKEA candles, so I bought a few more. I bought a papaya candle, apple candle, vanilla candle, and a lignonberry candle. Can't wait to light them (obviously not all at the same time)!

I also picked up a new lamp to put on my desk because I wanted a bigger one. My room doesn't have the greatest lighting when the sun goes down. I thought this black and grey one would match the duvet cover perfectly.

Are you guys fans of IKEA? I think it is really fun to just walk around the store. I'm definitely a fan!

I cannot believe that it is the last day of Thanksgiving break! It has flown by. I'm spending my final day with my boyfriend before he goes back to college. I'll probably post a Thanksgiving picture post this week.

Loads of love!

Thanksgiving Sweater Dress

Hello fashionistas!
I wanted to share my Thanskgiving outfit of the day with you all. We went over to my dad's brother's house and had lunch with his family. Later on tonight I'm going over to do dessert with my boyfriend's family. Tomorrow morning the boyfriend and I are doing some Black Friday shopping at the mall. Are any of you braving the crowds?

Before I do that I just wanted to tell you guys what I'm thankful for this year. I'm thankful for all of my lovely readers, you guys are what keeps me motivated to post. I'm thankful for my family, friends, my best friend, and my boyfriend. I love all of you. My life has changed so much in the past year and I'm thankful for having you all to help me transition.

Anyways, onto what I wore!

Dress: Target Shoes: Belk Earrings: Forever 21 Headband: Kohl's

I decided to pair a berry sweater dress that I wore to my birthday party last year for Thanksgiving. I paired it with purple and gold drop studs. I wore my black pointed toe kitten heels for a little bit of height! I paired a long black cardigan with it, but I didn't picture it with this outfit. I love wearing berry colors around the holidays. I added a Gossip Girl touch by donning a headband.

I went with neutral eye makeup and made my lips pop with a berry color. The color showed up more hot pink in the pictures, but it's actually more like a darker berry. I rocked the second day hair and curled it. My bangs were being annoying so I went with a headband.

I hope you all spent the day with your loved ones. If you're going Black Friday shopping I wish you all the best of luck!

Loads of love!

Colorful

Hello fashionistas!
I just wanted to share an outfit of the day with you all.
I'm so glad the weather is finally being cooler because I'm now able to wear blazers without being incredibly warm.

Blazer: Marshalls Top: American Eagle Tank-top and pants: Kohl's Shoes: Aerosoles Headband: Marshalls Bag: Gift from local store called Goldfinch

I was in the mood to do a little color-blocking with my new teal blazer from Marshalls. I saw this blazer on sale and had to have it. I love the scrunched up sleeves and bright color. I contrasted the blue with my sassy hot pink quilted bag. I kept the rest of my outfit neutral with blacks and grays. I went for some bling with this headband that I also got from Marshalls. I loved all of the rhinestones and thought it would be a great pop of sparkle to any outfit.

Here's a side shot of the headband. I went for a 2nd day hair style by curling my unwashed hair. This has been happening like 2 times week. I think it's keeping my hair healthier because I used to wash my hair every night. Although I might be defeating the purpose of saving my hair by applying direct heat onto it. Le sigh. I think I need to pick up a dry shampoo. Do you guys have any good dry shampoos to recommend?

Today I'm spending the day studying for a test that I have tomorrow in my history class. I'm also stopping by a birthday party for two of the kids that I babysit for. I'm also hoping to paint my toes sometime today. I'm in     desperate need for a fresh coat of polish on my toes!

What do you all have planned?

Buttoned Up.

Hello fashionistas!
I thought I'd share an outfit of the day with you all. I wore this to school and later out to a birthday dinner with a few friends.

Dress: Forever 21 Jacket: JCP Shoes: Kohl's Bracelet: Gift

I was digging in my closet this morning and realized that I had never worn this dress to school after I bought it when I went back to school shopping. I had worn it to a family event and then forgot all about it. I love the flirty collar and gold buttons. I kept the gold theme throughout the whole outfit and wore my new magenta flats with gold chains and my gold chain heart bracelet. I had to wear the jacket because it was a little bit chilly, but I would have preferred not to have worn it! It messed with the whole 'collared dress' look! The buttons on this dress remind me of a vintage flight attendant, but maybe that's just me!

My mom bought these for me over the weekend at Kohl's. They were on major sale for only $18!
They are insanely comfortable, seriously go buy a pair! They look kind of dirty here, but that's because they have clay on them from my ceramics class. Oh the joys of being a potterist!

I kept my hair natural, just spritzed a little bit of hairspray in it.
I did a bronze eye with my Naked palette and added a berry lip for a pop of color.
I'm in love with deep berry lip colors. They're my favorite thing about fall/winter beauty.

I'm off to go Skype with my boyfriend. After that I'm curling up into bed with a book and falling fast asleep. I am finally starting to  feel better. Yey for not being sick!
Hope you're all doing well!

Dorfman Pacific Parisian Beret Review

Hello fashionistas!
I recently received a lovely Parisian Beret from the sweet people at Dorfman Pacific to review.

Here's a little bit about the company and the product.

Dorfman Pacific offers the most comprehensive collection of hat brands in the country. Their research and development and design departments are busy searching the world for the best trends and materials so that retailers have the best looks when they need them in a quality and price point that is the best and most fairly priced.

Always on trend, Dorfman Pacific’s DPC AUTHENTIC brand presents style 50 for the new season in 19 colors. It is 10 and ½ inches and made from soft wool. The one size fits all feature makes it the ideal self or gift purchase.  A beret can be worn both indoors and outdoors and makes for a great fashion item to accessorize your look.

Onto my review!
I was worried that the wool would be scratchy, but I was pleasantly surprised because it is very soft. The one size fits all is perfect because you don't have to worry about it not fitting if you are purchasing for a friend. You can style it in a myriad of ways. It provides a European chicness to outfits. I also like that you can wear it to cover up a bad hair day, thus taking you from drab to fab!
The color that my hat is in is Forest Green. I personally love this color because it adds a pop of color without being too in your face. I think it would pair lovely with a camel colored coat.

If you want your own Dorfman Pacific Parisian Beret you can click here and choose from a variety of brilliant colors!

Loads of love!

A Few New Bits and Bobs.

Hello fashionistas!
I feel like I have been sporadically posting for the past month. My best friend just said to me that she's "been checking the blog twice a day for the past week and has seen no updates from me!"
Yes, you know it is time to post again when your best friend is on your case. (;

I thought I'd share the latest purchases that I've made. Just an few bits and bobs from assorted stores.

This top is super flowy and soft. I tried it on and immediately had to have it! I can't wait to pair it with jeans and teal flats. It's from Belk.

I normally feel like aviators give me sad, droopy eyes. I also feel like aviators are a cool girl thing and I always have felt that I could not pull them off. I finally found a pair that I can work with. I'm so excited!
These are also from Belk.

I recently ran out of my foundation, so I decided to try a new kind. I've liked most of ELF's studio line products, so I decided to give it a shot. I'll let you guys know how it goes! The mattifying powder and blotting sheets are just backups for when I run out of my purse powder and oil sheets.
This was all from Target.

I decided to pick up a few Wet n' Wild makeup goodies because who doesn't love a cheap beauty thrill? The lipstick is a bright pink with blue undertones called Don't Blink Pink. The nail polish was bought because I wanted a vampy color for my toes, it is called Lethal Injection.

Here's the lipstick swatched. It's such a vibrant color.

I don't know if you guys know this about me, but I really love stationary. I bought the S cards from Target because I needed just a plain stationary set to have on hand. I bought the notebook from Marshalls because I am that person who is constantly making lists and checking them twice.

I promise promise promise not to abandon you guys again!
Have you guys made any purchases lately? Any good sales?
Hope you are all doing well, especially those hit by Sandy.

Loads of love.
