Life Lately: September 2014

Why hello hello fashionistas!
I haven't been on the blogosphere in what feels like eons, but really has only been about a month and a half. The problem with blogging is that every time I start to think maybe I should just be done I realize that I want nothing more than to have the time to dedicate to this little corner of the internet.
I'm not sure who even bothers stopping by to check out Glamorous Girl 2014 who never posts, but if anyone out there is still checking in on me just know that I feel your love.

Since I have been too busy lazy and full of excuses to post I figured I might as well update ya'll on what I have been up to.

Here's the latest little gem I have purchased from my lovely place of employment. This bag is called the Loryn. I'm completely obsessed with the soft pink and berry color. The zig-zagging detail is what really made me fall head over heels for this bag. I had to have it because I know it will be perfect for fall and I'm sure I'll use it all the way through February (hello isn't this the best valentine's day bag ever?!). I just love me some Kate Spade.

Stuffing my face with pizza. Obviously I have been so busy eating. No, but seriously I have been eating a lot. Good thing I'm still hitting the gym on the regular to combat the calories. I have been zumba-ing with my mom a few times a week and I'm getting back  into running and weights.

A little calculator shot to show that I'm busy with school. I'm doing pretty well in all of my classes. I've gotten A's on all my tests except for a B on my first accounting test. I'm making friends, which I'm happy about because the first couple of weeks were tough not having anyone to chat with or compare homework with.

Even though I have been making friends I have been spending a lot of time missing my lovely ladies. Just a little throwback to February-March of this year when we took a little road trip.

Oh yes, more food pictures. I'm pretty sure I'm no longer a fashion blogger, but more of a food blogger. I picked up sushi to go with my sister after work the other night. Note the every so glamorous cheetah nightgown, gotta love Victoria's Secret sleep tees.

Selfie for my new haircut.. Which in reality was a trim and I had her add some layers because it was looking heavy. I'm happy that it's finally "fall" (it's still 85 degrees and 90% humidity in FL, but whatever) because I can bust out my vampy lip colors. I'm wearing Hourglass "Nocturnal" in this picture, one of my favorite lipsticks ever.

This weekend I'm taking a little road trip with my sister because I spontaneously bought the two of us tickets to see One Direction tomorrow! I literally bought them last Friday on the fly because I could get two seats for a reasonable price and I knew she would freak out!

I hope you guys are all doing splendidly and I really hope I can keep my booty posting on here. There is something so cathartic about reflecting on your life and typing away. Okay, I'm off to go do homework and laundry before class tonight.

Loads of love!

Life Lately: Work, Friends, and Shopping.

Hello fashionistas!
I have not updated in awhile because life has been crazy busy! My face has finally healed up after my wisdom teeth surgery and I no longer have chubby swollen cheeks. I have recently started a new job working at Kate Spade! I absolutely love it and I really love their bags. I can't wait to buy my first one.
I'm also nannying part time for a few kids, so my life has been go go go. Anyways, here are a few pictures of what I have been up to for the past couple of days.

My girls and I decided to do a beach day, but we also decided to order a huge pizza to take with us. Nothing like carbs, cheese, and bikinis.

Here's a little beach selfie. I've spent all my days off last week at the beach. Literally four days in a row soaking up the sun, with SPF of course!

Victoria and I went shopping the other day and I picked up this little bikini at Marshalls. It's a Vince Camuto and I just love the colors.

I just bought this top and necklace from Kate Spade. I had my eyes on this necklace all last week when I was working and I had to buy it!

My best friend, Lily, had her 18th birthday yesterday! Hence the silly party hat! I bought her a Kate Spade bag for her to tote around all her stuff when she leaves for college in the fall. I'm staying here and finishing up my AA at the local state college and then hopefully transferring to the same university.

Birthday bae! My mom made an Oreo cheesecake for her. The cake was sinfully delicious and had a whole pack of Oreos in it.

Today is my only day not nannying or working so I'm having another beach day with my boyfriend. Oh yeah, the boyfriend is also another new thing that's taking up my time. Overall, I'm very happy and running on lots of coffee while I be-bop around.

I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the summer!

Loads of love!

Weekend Wrap Up

Hello fashionistas!
This weekend was full of good times and I have the pictures to prove it! I wanted to give you all a weekend wrap up because I like to share what I do with my friends and family. A look at who I am outside of my clothing and makeup choices!

Up top you will see my girl Kali and I cheesin' with our sushi. I wish I had gotten a picture our other friend, Jenna. She was busy taking the pictures, thanks girly! The bottom pictures are my delicious sushi (also I did not eat alllll of it, I ordered too much) and my excellent parallel parking job. I am a horrible at parking and felt very accomplished with my parking!

My momma and I went to get our nails done and sported matching maxi dresses. We then went out for a tasty Mexican dinner; I ordered a shrimp quesadilla. We went to the mall afterwards and I found this Nike shirt. I am making such a stupid face because I have been saying that phrase for the past two weeks and had to send this picture to my friends. I bought a few things at JCP and the Loft. Jeans were on sale for $35 per pair and I got in on that sweet deal.

I am thinking of attending homecoming this year and I really liked these two dresses. Which one do you think I should go with? Obviously I would not wear flip-flops with either dress! (;

Here are closeups on both of the dresses. Help me pick one!

I spent today working out and studying during the morning. I then went to a neighbor's Pampered Chef party- super fun and really good food! After that I ran errands with my mom.

What did you all do this weekend? Hope you all spent it surrounded by the people you love.

A Well Spent Weekend

Hello fashionistas!
This holiday weekend has been a very busy, but fun weekend.
I just wanted to catch you up on some of what I have done with the following pictures!

Fourth of July was spent with my girl, Jenna. The two of us had a fab time at her family's BBQ. We got our diva glow on with a ton of glowsticks.

The next day I went over to my friend Kali's house. We got our tan on and swam in the deep blue ocean. We both ended up extremely sun burnt. This would be the burnt aftermath. My shoulders and back were the worst.

I popped my acrylic nails off the other day because they were peeling and I knew I would need to get fresh ones put on when I go next week. It feels weird to not have them on my nails. My nails are now very weak. Which is something I fully expected to happen.

This morning I went to the gym and did a body pump class and after that I got my cardio on.
I finally accomplished 3 miles in 35 minutes! I was so pumped because I normally only hit 2.91 or 2.95 miles. I pushed myself so hard. Also, I have my resistance and crossramp much higher than shown in the picture. I change it up throughout the workout. The machine sets it back to a resistance of 1 once the time is over.

Afterwards my dad and I dragged our sore, sweaty selves to this local place called Fishtails for some delicious breakfast  brunch. I was so hungry, but I only managed to eat half of this omelette.

Here is a cute picture of my dog in a jacket. Just livin' the pampered dog life.

This CD is what I have been currently jamming to in my car. I love me some JT.

#Shamelessselfie
I'm still pretty burnt, but it is slowly fading into a tan. Except not on my red red red nose. My smile is so big because my mom is FINALLY coming home from Michigan after two and a half weeks! I cannot wait to see her.

Hope you're having a fab weekend!

Food, Friends, Fun.

Hello fashionistas!
I have a somewhat random all over the place post tonight.

With my my mom being gone I have taken over role of chef (and the one who cleans). I whipped up some veggie quiches the other night and some taaaaasty muffins that I found via Pinterest. They were the most delectable muffins I have had in a long long long time. Janie from Janies' Kitchen originally used a doughnut pan for hers, but I didn't have that, hence the muffins. Click here to be taken to the recipe.

Down by the bay. Sorry the photo quality is kinda meh.

My best friend, Lily, officially moved back to Florida yesterday!!! Excitement levels are through the roof. We went out to dinner and walked around downtown. We also bought overpriced popsicles. Obviously a must- my flavor was Pistachio Coconut and it was SO GOOD. Lily got some kind of papaya mango popsicle (I thought mine was better.. Just sayin').

My hair was so much more voluminous before we walked around in the haaawtttt Florida humidity.

Before I left to pick her up for dinner I obviously had to snap a selfie. Duh, what else?
I swear I really do not take that many selfies.. Most of them are dumb faces being sent in response to texts.. #Ipromise

I have been volunteering all week at a kids' art camp and afterwards I have been hitting the gym. Then I went and picked up Lily to run errands. We went to Bath and Body Works where I practiced extreme self control and only bought one lotion. We then went to Target and got POURED ON. While I was driving a mini hurricane brewed and sprayed us with rain. I kid not when I say my jeans and top were completely soaked. I looked like a soggy cat. And this was with an umbrella. Lily tried on these pants that were multicolored and huuuuge on her. The pants reminded me of MC Hammer pants and gave me quite a laugh!

Merona® Women's Eyelet Short (5") - Red Rave
I ended buying these shorts even though I hate showing off my thighs. Probably will wear them to a friends' 4th of July partaaay.
That is all.

Anyways, I'm glad my second family is back! I have to get to bed soon because I have to be up at 7 to get ready to volunteer. Hope you guys are doing well! Happy almost weekend!

Baking and Cooking, Cooking and Baking

With Christmas just a mere day away, I thought I would share some delicious recipes my cousin, sister, Nana, and I all tested out last weekend. We had such a good cousin's weekend with our Nana. Nana, thank you for letting us make a mess in your kitchen! We love you!

Megan and I made our first completely from scratch cake and frosting! We found the recipe in a magazine from my Nana. It was just a classic yellow cake with a chocolate frosting.

Ingredients for the Cake

3 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour, plus more for dusting pans
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 and 3/4 cups sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk

Directions for the Cake

Heat over to 325 degrees. Coat two 9 inch baking pans with nonstick cooking spray. Dust with flour and discard excess.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a small bowl.

With an electric mixer set on medium, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 2 minutes (this is creaming). Beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla.

On low speed, alternately beat in flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Spread batter into prepared pans, divide equally.

Bake at 325 for 40 to 43 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center of cakes comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks for ten minutes. Run a thin knife around pan edge and turn out cakes to cool completely on racks.

Ingredients for Milk Chocolate Frosting

4 bars (1.55 ounces each) milk chocolate, broken up (we used 8 ounces of semi sweet chocolate chips, worked perfectly)
1 box (1 pound) confectioners' sugar
6 tablespoons milk
1/4 (1/2) stick unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions for Milk Chocolate Frosting

Place chocolate in a small saucepan. Melt over medium-low heat, about 3 minutes (we continuously stirred it to prevent it from burning, I highly recommend doing that). Cool slightly

Combine 1 cup of the confectioners' sugar, them milk, butter, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 1 minute. Add melted chocolate and beat until smooth (we had to reheat the chocolate for just a minute, still stirring continuously on the stove).

Gradually beat in remaining sugar until good spreading consistency.

Use a pastry brush to sweep loose crumb from one cake layer. Place layer, bottom side up, on pedestal. Spread frosting on top layer. Brush loose crumbs from the second layer; stack on first, bottom side down. Secure with skewers (we didn't do that). Then spin the cake around and frost it until you feel it's done.

This recipe is from Family Circle magazine from December 2009.

Mixing!

Checking the recipe.

Nana's glamour shot.

Frosting of the cake.

Granted it wasn't the prettiest cake, but it sure tasted good!

I had found these delicious egg "muffin" recipe on Pinterest and I was dying to try it! We tested it out at Nana's and it was very easy and super tasty!

Ingredients for Egg "Muffins"

1/2 onion diced
1/2 tomato diced
Colby Jack Cheese
6 pieces of bacon crumbled
8 large eggs
1/4 cup milk  or 1/4 cup of half and half (we used half and half because we wanted to make sure they weren't runny!)
1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp baking powder
salt & pepper to taste

Directions for Egg "Muffins"Preheat over to 375
Cook the bacon
Whisk together eggs, milk, oil and baking powder.  Season with salt and pepper.
Lightly spray a 12-cupcake pan with oil, we used cupcake liners and sprayed them lightly but, you can just spray the pan.
Spoon the egg mixture in. We added the "extras" (bacon, tomato, onion) in separately because not everyone wanted it.
Sprinkle Colby Jack cheese on top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.

You can use any kind of  "extras" in these egg muffins. I think spinach would be delicious in it. Sausage, ham, basically anything you want.

Pre-oven shot.

Post oven shot.

Close up shot, one of the muffins spilled over.

These were so good that my mom and I are going to make them for Christmas brunch.

I also wanted to include a picture of my Nana's flourishing Orchids! They are gorgeous.

If any of you test any of these recipes out, let me know how they turn out!

Merry Christmas Eve and since I won't be posting tomorrow, Merry Christmas!

Happy late Easter fashionistas!
Here is what I wore to brunch with the family!

Skirt, camisole, and earrings: Forever 21 Shoes: Aerosoles (Ross) Shrug: Ross Bracelet: Belk

I hate these outfit pictures, I look extremely awkward!

Creepy bunny at brunch. This is my sister Sierra (or as I call her "Chez")
Sorry the lighting is so bad, and for the fact that my skirt is too high in this!
Chezzy Boo!

Nana and Mom
Nana, Dad, and Mom.
Brunch was at the Hyatt in Jacksonville. This was our view, we saw a lot of boats passing by!

My aunt Chrissy and I (uhm, more awkward pictures of me).
I had to snap a picture of the deserts! I loved the one with the chocolate straw, so good! The cappachino thing was really gross, I couldn't eat it! Other than that, brunch was great!

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter!

Lots of love!
